Super Foods with Super Shelf Life

As we carefully prepare for what our families are going to eat today and in the future, we want the most bang for our buck. Nutritious, tasty, great shelf life... I was reading about the top super foods and was amazed at how many of these foods are available preserved and ready to last a very long time! Thanks to the freeze dried method, these foods also taste amazing! Super foods found in {freeze dried} #10 cans with shelf life up to 30 years are:

Blueberries
Tomatoes
Broccoli
Spinach
Berries
Yogurt
Asparagus
Turkey
Oranges

Other super foods available in #10 cans with shelf life up to 30 years:

Beans
Whole Grains
Oats
Carrots
Lentils

The super foods our food storage scientists need to get working on to add to our preserved list:

Avocados - Shelf life {if frozen puree} 6 months
Pumpkin - Shelf life {commerically canned} 2-5 years
Kiwi - Shelf life {dried kiwi} 1 year.
Soy - Shelf life for shelf stable soy milk, 1 year.

I love this post. I've always thought of food storage as just beans and grains and since we eat a lot of fruits and veggies at our house I didn't know what to do. Now for learning about acquiring them and preparing them . . .

I love the freeze dried food too, because you can eat them as they come, if needed. So good!
