Homemade Reusable Ice Pack

Homemade Reusable Ice Pack
Fill a strong Ziploc bag with Dawn dish washing liquid
FREEZE
Lunch boxes and reusable ice packs are essentials at our house for the new school year. Somehow we lost all but one reusable ice pack last year. They are so expensive, I have been procrastinating getting new ones. I was looking at some ice packs at the store yesterday and a nice gentlemen told me that dawn detergent makes amazing ice packs. I went right home to research and experiment. Everything I read sounded like it was a great way to make an ice pack. The ice pack I made was so cold! This is a great first aid item also!!

Benefits of making a homemade
ice pack with dawn

The liquid soap stays cold much longer than ice
It can be re-frozen many times

What a great idea! I am going to try this at home! We have a tendency to go through ice packs like water at our house, too. Thanks for the great idea! - Michelle L.

Just wondering what the purpose of the dawn soap is and if it's necessary to use Dawn? Can it be any soap?

It must be Dawn! Dawn contains petroleum. That's why it's used to clean oil spill contaminated animals.
